FAQ

Questions we are asked most

If the answer you need is not here, ask before the audit rather than after it. We would rather lose the brief than start one on a misunderstanding.

Do you guarantee positions?

+

No agency can. We forecast demand, report on the pages that earn it, and show you the raw exports behind every number. Anyone quoting a fixed position by a fixed date is quoting something they do not control.

How quickly does anything move?

+

Technical fixes show within weeks. Editorial and digital PR are usually read in the numbers between the third and the sixth month. Migrations are the exception: there the work is measured by what does not fall over.

Will you work with our developers?

+

Yes. Tickets are written the way your team writes them, and we join the stand-up when a release touches the templates. If you have no in-house team we will work with your agency on the same terms.

Who owns the content and the links?

+

You do. Accounts, drafts, spreadsheets and placements stay in your name from the first day of the contract, and nothing is withheld at the end of one.

Do you take clients in our sector?

+

We hold one account per competing search market, so the answer depends on who is already on the list. We will tell you before the audit, not after.

Can we pause the retainer?

+

Yes, with ninety days’ notice on either side. Nothing is withheld while the account is paused, and your seat in the sector is held for the length of the notice period.

Do you buy links?

+

No. No marketplaces, no private networks, no paid placements dressed up as editorial. Every link we earn is listed by URL and date in the monthly document, and you can check any of them.

What does the audit actually contain?

+

Roughly forty pages: crawl and log-file analysis, index and canonical review, content and demand mapping, a competitor read across four rivals, and a prioritised fix list your developers can work from. It arrives three weeks after kick-off with a ninety-minute walkthrough.

Is the audit fee credited if we continue?

+

In full, against your first monthly invoice. If you take the audit and go elsewhere, the document is still yours to use.

How do you report?

+

One document a month, the same format every time, with brand and non-brand demand separated. The raw exports go with it, so your finance director can rebuild any figure without asking us.

Do you work outside the UK?

+

We work on UK organic search, including export demand reported by market for UK-based businesses. We do not run multi-country programmes with local teams, and we will say so rather than pretend otherwise.

Who are we contracting with?

+

Breakline Marketing Company Ltd, registered in England & Wales, No. 15819825. Registered office: 167–169 Great Portland Street, 5th Floor, London, England, W1W 5PF.
